This is my favorite animal welfare organization. There are cats and dogs. They are in need of volunteers. You can go and socialize with the cats and walk the dogs. They need lots of love in order to be better socialized for their future adoptive homes. The staff is friendly and it's easy to just stop by for even 15 minutes to walk a dog or two or pet a cat!

Every Sunday in Santa Monica Across from the Farmers Market

This foundation focuses on the adoption or fostering of dogs. You can show up on Sunday's, walk any dog and if you are interested, foster them during the week until the next Sunday. They supply you with food, leashes and toys. It's a great way to keep the dogs out of cages all week long!
